The title of this song as you may be able to tell is about a slide. A volcanic body-slide in an underground city to be exact. But that doesn't make for a good title. This song started off being based on the slide in super mario 64 with my instrumentation being a violin and cello duet, but as I played around with that it sounded way to whiny, so I switched to woodwinds. It has the same meta-jazz style as some of my other songs. I've noticed that a lot of video game music follows that idiom. Not necessarily going into free-jazz but sounding jazzy with tritone substitutions, pentatonic scales, blues notes, and chromaticism. I try to emulate meta-jazz in my own way - I compose for classical instruments and structures, but still try to throw some jazz in.
