This song is kind of like a demented bowsers castle theme from super mario bros. To get this sound, I lengthened phrases so they wouldn't be so sporatic and wrote melodies that utilize the locrian mode (which is a really unstable mode and really only exists as a theoretical key because it's lack of a good, harmonious way of resolving.) I also tried to avoid jazz chords and blue notes (and harmonies) and to use the triangle of sound with lower notes being sounded louder than higher ones. During recording, my method for articulation variances was to envision someone deliberating on whether to get out of bed or not, and playing their mood, (getting ready to get up, changing their mind, resting a while, and finally forcing themselves to get up.)
