I had the idea to do this song kind of like a video game song because I was listening to the super mario bros video game soundtrack and I thought of a melody that I later realized sounded like the minimalist jazz composition for the underground levels in mario. I tried to make this song simple and catchy and use melody displacement, chordal inversions, and not too much interweaving harmonies in this song to bring out the riffs. Apparently a riff is a four-letter word now-a-days. The current film composer technique is to take a well known theme and alter it a little bit, and use a wall of sound with just a barely modulating chord. It leaves the music sounding hesitant; like the composer is afraid to change to a new note.
