about

(This work wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my family and friends, including…the people’s voices in this project: Tomas, AJ, Julie, Ashley, Kevin, Barry, Luke, Dan, The Mad Cajun, Mike, Teri, and Eric - whom were all professional and good sports about this project)

Have you ever seen The Eric Andre Show? He deals in surreal entertainment. You don’t know what you’re watching or if you even should like it, all you know is you need more of it. That’s his hook. Just like my hook for street performing is my sign that essentially says, “This whole act is nonsense. There’s no point to it besides hearing a musician abandon all practical anchors of music theory in favor of a whimsical train of thought, and to laugh at musical jokes and subtle turns of phrases.”

There’s all kinds of surreal entertainment; like movies and paintings. But where The Eric Andre Show and I are similar is the use of a random riff used to connect with the basic nature of the audience. He evokes a response out of surprise, I evoke a response out of a supposed synchronicity of a great recognition to a musical heritage.

This work ISN’T MUSIC but is something I’ve been mauling around in my head for years. The very seeds of the idea were planted in my 20’s when it seemed like there was an unexplainable shift in people’s style of conversation. I could never put my finger on WHY it happened, all I knew was that the reason perplexes me,

even to this day...

This is another jab at creating something to steer people towards their perceived demise. And to promote surreal art in general.
I’m grateful as always to have bandcamp.com which allows for a free exchange of information I can share with you all. This particular piece is a boring accumulation of common sense; and may seem scholastic and uninteresting to you peeps…but as the expression goes, “When in doubt, do as the romans do, build stuff fast.”
